Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art and game that includes elements of dance, acrobatics, music and spirituality. The berimbau is used for rhythmical accompaniment.

It must have inspired Baden Powell and Vinícius de Moraes to write this song. The song is often being covered by many, e.g. by Sergio Mendes and his Brasil 66.

This big band arrangement starts with trombones and trumpets in the melody after which the vocalist takes over in Portuguese.
