The Fire Department  (Rob Catlender)

This is a composition I wrote on the occasion of the 25th birthday of the Sea Sound Big Band. A dvd has been recorded at the beautiful Fire Department-Museum in the Dutch town Hellevoetsluis.

The composition tells a story that starts with the sound of fire sirens; the fire-trucks starting their new mission. The theme brings them to the fire where the chief fireman starts to give his instruction in a trombone-solo.

The most brave fireman are the saxophones who unroll there fire hoses and go into the house on fire. After that the heavy work is done by the brass section in a question and answer play. When the fire is under control they go back to the fire department.
