Marching Cat

Marching Cat (Rob Catlender)

This piece starts with the rhythm section playing a ska-like groove. Two altos and 2 muted trumpets expose a catchy melody in minor. Trombones in cup mute start the B melody that evolves in a rock-like rhythm over exiting harmonies.

In the middle an alto-solo alternates with a homophonic tutti.

During the end-theme, transposed a fourth higher and with help of trombone-glissandi and distortion-guitar (not on demo) the music comes to a peak.

A scherzo jazz-march for big band.
